Best regards from Germany...

Our names are Winfried and Magdalena Hentrich. We are Germans, both 52 years old, and living in a small town about 100 km northwest of Hamburg. Winfried is an engineer who enjoys sports, canoeing and model railways. I run a small quilt shop in my home and quilting is my favorite hobby. We have three grown children and one grandchild.

The first contact we had with the Evergreen Club was in February and March of this year. We had a round trip through Florida for three weeks and met nine Evergreen families during this time. Using e-mail to make reservations proved very helpful. We stayed in small houses and big homes and everyone was so kind, friendly and helpful. We could not believe this! Some hosts took us sightseeing. Others cooked wonderful BBQ dinners or offered cake and ice cream. We had a lot of great and different breakfasts. Some hosts went with me to quilt meetings, searched through the Yellow Pages for special quilt shops and did everything for us to make our stay satisfying. We never saw something like this in our life before!

The first few days it was very strange for us to listen and understand the American people and even more strange to talk with them. We thought it would be a good idea to have some nights in a motel between the host families for resting. But day after day it was getting better and better and after the last night we really did have to stay in a motel and we both said, "How wonderful it was staying with all these kind people and how disappointed is a stay in a motel."
