Praline Crunch

Ingredients:

7-8 cups Crispix cereal

1 cup pretzel sticks

2 cups pecan halves

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup corn syrup (Karo)

1/2 cup butter

1 tsp Vanilla extract

1/2 tsp backing soda

1 pinch of sea salt

Just in case you were wondering, this is a calorie-free snack, just like all the recipes shared on the Evergreen Club blog.

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

On the stove

First, add your butter, brown sugar, and Karo / corn syrup, to a large pot on the stove. Melt.

Bring to a boil. Keep an eye on it to maintain the rich carmel color, but try to catch it before it burns!

Lower heat to simmer. Stir with spatula to knock out all the bubbles.

Add baking soda.

Behold! Science!!!  :-D

Start stirring it.

As the crazy chemical reaction takes place and the air bubbles get knocked out, it'll take on this delightful creamy texture.

Dump Crispix and pretzel sticks onto a foil-lined baking sheet, distributing evenly across.

Pour the hot sugar mixture over all the Crispix & pretzels. Stir to coat evenly.

Pop it in the oven for just a few minutes to get it nice and toasty.

My heavens, it smells good in here!

Next, take the baking sheet out of the oven and sprinkle with sea salt. Let it sit five minutes to cool.

Line a glass paking dish with wax paper and dump in the mixture. Allow to cool completely.

To serve, just dump it in a bowl and break up the biggest chunks.

And there you have it! Your house will smell amazing and your party guests will be delighted! (No judgement if this party consists of just you)... we've all been there.
